UYN Sports
Joining UYN Sports in September 2024, I was appointed to establish and lead its new Outdoor department, developing two categories: Arnyca, dedicated to trekking and entirely designed by me, and Dolomya, focused on trail running and developed in collaboration with design studio Rayon-Vert.
Debuting with FW26, the collection draws on UYN’s expertise in advanced knitting technologies, combining technical performance with predominantly bio-based cut&sew materials and a cohesive design language across apparel and footwear.

Salomon Slowcross
SlowCross is an experimental, entirely handmade reinterpretation of the Salomon Speedcross, exploring performance through vernacular design, repairability and low-tech manufacturing.
Inspired by the traditional wooden architecture of Austria’s Vorarlberg region, the project translates principles of local craftsmanship and adaptive construction into footwear. Challenging technological excess, SlowCross proposes a more grounded approach to innovation, where repair and ageing adopts strong contextual relevance.
In April 2024, the project was presented to Salomon’s Head of Design as a proposal for an alternative approach to progressive performance footwear.

Scheme.ist is the independent creative practice of Julien Chaintreau, a French-Swiss designer currently based in Paris (FR). I began my journey graduating an Industrial Design BA from ECAL (CH) in 2018 and later from the Design Academy Eindhoven (NL) with a Geo-Design MA in 2022 under the direction of Formafantasma.
Following multiple professional in-house design experiences, respectively at Ableton, On Running, ROA Hiking and UYN Sports, where I led the development of its Outdoor department, I now operate scheme.ist, establishing my creative consultancy set up in early 2026. This independent creative studio operates across footwear, apparel and creative strategy, bridging product development, design research and cultural analysis. Alongside commercial collaborations, the practice explores alternative approaches to craftsmanship, manufacturing and contemporary performance culture through varrious mediums, spanning across material experimentation to editorial writing.
